"Hunting for a Cure in WI"
Hey everyone!! Well so far we have had great luck in North Dakota and Minnesota and we just got home from Buffalo County, Wisconsin where I bagged another great buck! We were hunting with long time friends Tom and Laurie Indrebo at Bluff Country Outfitters. Pat has been hunting here for years and has killed some great deer here so it was high time my turn was going to come!
Pat and I had been looking forward to this hunt all year because this was going to be a very special week. Tom had agreed to donate a hunt to Robb Nelson at Hunter’s Dream for a cure (www.huntersdream.org) to have the opportunity to come down and promote his fundraising for children with a rare disease called Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS). Robb’s friend Dax Hayden had bought the hunt so we were looking forward to sharing camp with both of them.
In Buffalo County this year, it was earn a buck so Robb and Dax had to shoot a doe before they could go after a buck! But me on the other hand, I was a little smarter! Pat and I had snuck down there the week before to get our does so when the guys showed up we could buck hunt! Our first evening out we saw a nice buck 200 yards away and a few does, but nothing close enough but that’s only until the following evening! Tom and Pat had discussed deer movement in the area and had decided to put us in the woods on the edge of a bowl.
Around 15 minutes before dark, a nice 8 pointer and another buck (which later Tom had showed us Cuddeback pictures that he was a 9 year old on his way down hill) came in following the ridge system. The eight pointer came in at 21 yards and I let my Mathews and Muzzy do the work! He ran only 50 yards and down he went, number 3 for the season! Pat had the last two days of the hunt to try and get it done, but just couldn’t come quite close enough! I guess he just doesn’t have my horseshoe this year! As far as Robb and Dax they both got their does on day 3 and the last day they didn’t have any buck luck but we all had a great time and made some very special memories that will last a lifetime! Thanks again to Tom and Laurie for yet another great hunt and we will be back again this year because Pat is still playing catch up! Keep sending in the pics of all the awesome deer this year we love to see them!
Stay Driven,
Pat & Nicole
