SE MN Thanksgiving Bow Kill
November 22nd, 2007
Eric Ronningen from Southeastern Minnesota had been bow hunting for twenty-four days before getting a crack at buck of a lifetime. On November 22nd (Thanksgiving) Eric crawled into his stand for an evening hunt, his stand was located between the field edge and the bedding area. Around 4:30pm Eric had a doe and fawn milling around near his stand when he heard another deer coming in his direction. Eric grabbed his bow and prepared himself for the shot incase it was a shooter buck. Because of the thick cover and underbrush Eric couldn’t identify the buck until it entered his shooting lane. As the buck entered the opening he quickly judged him up as a 160-class buck and focused at making the shot. At five yard Eric released the arrow and the buck only ran fifty yards before crashing.
The giant typical gross green scores around 193 and will net around 178 placing him high in the record books as one of the largest typicals ever taken in Minnesota.
