Spring Valley, MN - Monster Buck
November 11th, 2007
Matt Kolling (aka Chewy) took this monster buck on his grandpa’s land near Spring Valley in Minnesota. Matt had seen the deer last year during shotgun season but didn’t get a shot off on him. He thought the deer would score in the 160’s. This year he had gotten one Cuddeback picture of the buck still in full velvet so he knew he was still around. After the farmer pulled all the crops out of the area, the deer began concentrating in certain areas. Matt was on his way to his stand one morning just after daybreak when he spotted the giant buck 150 yards away locked down with a doe. Matt took a shot at the buck and he didn’t move. After shooting at the deer, he decided to try and sneak up to deer getting only 90 yards away. He shot and hit the deer the first time, and shot 2 times after that, missing the 2nd shot and dropped him in his tracks with the 3rd. The buck gross scores 193” as a mainframe 10 pointer with 17 scoreable points. What an awesome buck Matt! Congratulations on a beautiful deer!
