Thunder Ridge Outfitters Take 4 Giants

December 3rd, 2007

Thunder Ridge Outfitter located an hour south of Des Moines, Iowa has had the year of all years in outfitting. It started on November 14 when client Hillary Bates from Minnesota harvested a buck of many lifetimes! Bates was hunting on a day when wind gusts were close to 50 mph. Hillary actually climbed down and stood at the base of the tree for a while before climbing back into the stand. Thirty minutes later, the giant came through and Hillary made a perfect shot. The 26-point buck unofficially scores around 228”.

This wasn’t the only big one that fell to a bow hunter at Thunder Ridge. On November 21st co-owner Tony Sehman was hunting by his house on a picked cornfield when he had this giant come by chasing does. Tony grunt snort wheezed the deer to 20 yards before making the shot. His buck had 13 scoreable points and grossed 171”.

If that wasn’t enough one week later on the 29th, Tony’s brother Wade was hunting on the edge of a standing bean field when he had an absolute world class buck come out and start feeding. The buck fed a bit then went back into the timber. Thirty minutes later, Wade heard a deer coming in his direction. Wade was hoping that it was the buck he had just watched but turns out it was a totally different buck but one he couldn’t turn down. Wade recognized the buck as one he had seen several times during the season. The buck came into 15 yards before Wade took his shot. His buck gross scored 194”. Another monster on the ground for Thunder Ridge!

I’d have to say that I’d pay money to find out where that magic bean field is to get a crack at the other buck! “Lots of money Wade & Tony! What do you think boys?!” If that wasn’t enough big one’s down for Thunder Ridge Wade had just emailed me the photos and details of yet another Booner their client just killed on December 3. Mike Washburn from Michigan was hunting during the regular gun season and harvested a beautiful buck that carries 18 scoreable points and gross scores 202”!

I’m sure this won’t be the last big one that Thunder Ridge brings in this year. There is still a lot of season left in Iowa.
